Will Liposuction Help Remove Cellulite?
In that cellulite is a dimpling of the understructure of the skin due to fatty deposits, the removal of fat through liposuction would seem to be a logical way of resolving or at least partially combatting the appearance of cellulite. Cellulite and liposuction, it would seem, should go hand in hand.
However, curing cellulite is not so easy.
Liposuction, the removal of body fat by a surgical suction method, is a very common cosmetic surgery. In fact, it's probably the most common. The liposuction technique eliminates unattractive bulges from our body that are the result of the accumulation of excessive deposits of fat in a particular area of the body. First performed in 1979, the cellulite and liposuction correlation was considered from the very beginning of the use of the procedure.
Cellulite and liposuction are similar in that they tend to attack the same areas of the body - the thighs, abdomen, hips, buttocks, neck and chin.
Cellulite and the fat that is removed by liposuction are both partially the result of the aging process as well. As we get older, our hormones change, altering the distribution of fat through our bodies. Strenuous exercise doesn't seem to make a difference in our accumulation of cellulite nor of fatty deposits that we eventually turn to liposuction to remove if all else fails. Therefore, cellulite and liposuction are both about body fat.
Cellulite and liposuction might at first glance seem to be a good marriage. However, years of research have shown that in fact liposuction does not really cure cellulite and may make its appearance even worse.
